IGP Solomon Arase
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, yesterday, commissioned 260 Police Staff Homes as part of the Nigeria Police effort to improve the quality of lives and provide affordable houses for officers and men of the Force.
Speaking at the ceremony at the Brick City Estate, Kubwa in Abuja, the IGP, who noted that other houses are located in Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Niger and Abia states, expressed optimisim that the housing scheme for police officers will halt the issue of corruption amongst men of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the IGP, “Corruption is rampant amongst my men because at the end of their service year, they barely have what to fall back on and this motivated me to get them affordable homes.
“I believe that once they are able to have affordable accommodation when they are in service, then the pressure on them as public servants is mitigated and that is my own approach towards halting the issues of corruption in the system.
“I believe that everybody who has served Nigeria for 35 years or 60 years should be able to retire into something and this is my own strategic approach towards halting the issues of corruption in the system.
